Linda Krockenberger co-founded the Arabian Desert Camel Riding Centre in order to share her love of the animals. “There are other places to ride, but usually they don't offer such an in-depth experience with the animal, or that people can come repeatedly, and they can build relationships with the animals,” Krockenberger told Reuters. Welcome Everyone!!! Today we go on a DESERT SAFARI outside Dubai! This is a very “touristy” thing to do when visiting Dubai, but it’s a Very nice experience! We had family visiting us here, so it was the perfect occasion for them to see the real Arabian desert! We bought a package with a tour agency, ANTALYA, where we payed around 20 dollars/person. In this package there was a lot included: Pick up and drop off, Dune-bashing, Camel-ride, Sand-boarding, Henna-painting and Dinner buffet with live dancing- and fire shows! The pick-up was at 3 pm and we got back home around 10 pm, so it’s a good 7 hours in the desert, but time flies when you’re having fun! The best time to visit the desert we would say is between October-March when it’s not TOO hot in Dubai, especially in the desert with no shadows to hide under, the sun can get very strong. Another tip is to download the app Groupon, where you can find many good deals (this is where we found this super-affordable price as well). Day 2 of our trip to the Sahara in Morocco! Watch Day 1 here: 🤍 My twin brother, Joe, and I booked a trip from Marrakesh to go to the Sahara and ride camels to stay overnight in a Bedouin camp. After spending the first day going to Ait Ben Haddou and Dades Gorge, the second day consisted of touring the town of Tinghir which is built on an oasis next to the High Atlas Mountains. We also went to Todra Gorge to see the high canyon walls there. After that we arrived in Merzouga, the gateway to the Sahara. Our camels were waiting for us and we hopped on them to take a sunset ride into the endless dunes to arrive at our camp. We ate tagine and then gazed at the stars for hours. Camel riding is now official in Dubai after the opening of the first licensed school in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) dedicated to teaching the popular pastime. It can be traced back to the seventh century in the UAE, making it part of the country’s cultural heritage, but today only one school is licensed to teach the sport. Linda Krockenberger, said that she grew tired of taking solitary camel rides in 2021 and it pushed her to open the Arabian Desert Camel Riding Centre, where she is not only a co-founder along with a local partner, but also a trainer. "There are other places to ride, but usually they don't offer such an in-depth experience with the animal, or that people can come repeatedly, and they can build relationships with the animals…or that they can take their riding skills further from riding long distance, we did a track of 50 km in one day, to ride overnight and camp out in the desert or to ride in short races," said Krockenberger "Riding involves a lot of body weight, for example going left or right, we only have one reign, so how to we communicate and how we give directions, is a lot by shifting the weight of the rider, as well as using one singular rope as a stick to point," added the German trainer. Calling them "Gentle Giants," camel riding trainer, Jana Schmiedel, said she feels proud every time she gets to ride. "For me really, the fascinating thing is to have a connection with the camel, to really get to understand them, to be a team with them when riding, to listen to what they need in order to understand me and what I can give them in order for them to understand what is going,” added Schmiedel. It was the first time for Michelle O’Malley, coming all the way from New Zealand, to see a camel ever. She decided to take on the new venture of learning camel riding with her young children. For thousands of years the Arabian Peninsula has been home for the desert's giant species, which have been historically used for transport and as a source of survival. Nowadays, camels have become popular for racing in the UAE with prizes reaching thousands of dollars. Making camel racing and riding accessible for all, co-owner, and co-founder of the centre, Obaid Al-Falasi, said they have been witnessing a rising number of women students. Just outside the buzzing city of Dubai in the cusp of the Al Marmoom desert, the first licensed camel riding school in the UAE introduces people to the sport and rebuilds a fading cultural connection between humans and the giant animals.

#Marrakesh #Morocco #CamelRide Camel Ride in Marrakech - Morocco | Day 3 Day 3 in Morocco Love waking up in the morning and watch the sunrise. Amazing to see the the wide horizon with the Atlas mountains in the far distance turning red and the cool air warming up. Exiting day, we are going to experience the camel riding in the desert. Well it's not the real desert, or the well known Sahara desert, but is an arid place with palm trees and a barbar settlement just outside of Marrakesh. Although we would have loved to go to do the Sahara Desert trip, it is about a 6-700 km away. So doing a trip there takes about 2-3 days. In fact almost all the major cities in Marroc are at a high distance from each-other - 300 to 500 or 600 km away from Marrakech. This is the reason why we decided to experience the camel ride locally and than explore a bit more the other cities in Maroc. As soon as we arrived to the desert they gave us the traditional cloths and we felt really cool in it. Getting on the camel was a bit scary, but within no time we were on the go. Going on the camel is really bumpy and you have to hold tight to stay put on the camel. We were riding across this area for about 1h. Somewhere at half of the journey we reached to the barbar village and we were able to see the school, some houses, the mosque and some kids playing soccer. 1 hour on the camel it was more than enough, so really happy that we opted for this ride instead of the Sahara one. We arrived back in the afternoon to Marrakech, chilled around the table, tea, coffee, fresh juice, food for about an hour and had a good talk. We tried some other dishes this time so I order some cus cus salad, with a chicken kebab, cristina got a B'stilla and Ciprian is always keeping it classic. Beef Tajin. To be honest i disliked the kebab, it just simply felt not authentic, the cus cus salad is a bit sour with a strong parsley flavored. It was refreshing and pleasant, but a bit too much parsley. THe B'stilla - very interesting - it is a kind of crispy pye filled with fried chicken, cinemon powder and sugar powder. Weird combination, i know, but it actually works. I really enjoyed it. So totally recommend it in trying it out. Oooh and yes, a must try is the mango juice, i guess we had at least 1 glass of mango juice at every meal we had in a day. DELICIOUS. After a rich meal we went for a HAMAM, the HAMAM is well known as the Turkish bath, but it is common everywhere in the Islamic culture. You spend about about half hour or you can do it even longer, in the sauna and apply different kind of solutions an your skin and you scrub away the dead skin. After the hammam we had a 1 hour relaxing massage which was amazing. Ooh man, i need more massage in my life. We ended our perfect day walking around the market.
